As the Outdoor Program Assistant/Student Manager, I maintained all of my duties as rental office staff as well as managed financial reports, student staff, and rental operations on a daily basis. Throughout the three months, I took part in the following: stabilizing inventory, creating better accountability in customers and employees by implementing serialized gear, developing training curriculum for new and returning employees, organizing a system for late orders, and creating better reference tools for all rental staff to utilize.

Oversees the University of Minnesota climbing wall during open hours. Responsibilities include processing check-ins, computing sales prices and receiving and processing payments, handling gear, providing wall orientations, belay certifications, renting merchandise to customers, supervising climbers and providing emergency assistance if necessary, and creating a positive environment for climbers of all ages and ability levels.

Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area

Oversees the University of Minnesota's gear rental office. Responsibilities include: Greeting customer and ascertaining what each customer wants or needs, describing merchandise and explaining use, operation, and care to customers, recommending merchandise and offering advice and trip planning, computing sales prices and receiving and processing payments, managing inventory and shop cleanliness, and creating a friendly and welcoming environment for those new and experience with the outdoors.
