In my role at TRIEC, I lead the operations for our flagship program - TRIEC Mentoring Partnership -across the Greater Toronto Area, overseeing multiple stakeholder relationships, driving efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery and implementation, offering strategic leadership and direction to grow the program, increasing its impact, while delivering on the promise of building a “Greater Toronto Area that prospers by fully engaging the contributions of immigrant professionals”.TRIEC Mentoring Partnership matches newcomers with a mentor who is established in Canada and shares their professional background. Through the program, newcomer “mentees” expand their professional networks and understand how the local labour market works. In return, their mentors learn coaching and leadership skills, intercultural competencies and build their knowledge of international business practices. The program is a collaboration between different partners across the Greater Toronto Area. TRIEC manages the program, in partnership with the 12 Community Partners who recruit and match the newcomers with a mentor. Employer partners offer mentoring as a professional development and community building opportunity for their staff, significantly boosting the number of mentors who enter the program.Since the program launched in 2004, over 12,000 mentors have mentored and enabled the career success of over 24,000 newcomers here in GTA. Newcomers who participate in TRIEC Mentoring Partnership are 2.5 times more likely to find good quality employment within three months of completing the program. For every $1 invested in TRIEC Mentoring Partnership, the equivalent of $10.50 is returned to society (Social Return on Investment). Show less
