• The Law Society's Policy and Practice Department influences law reform and legal policy in Australia on behalf of the legal profession. My responsibilities in this role included:
• Managing a team of Policy Lawyers and Paralegals.
• Conducting advocacy, research, and policy development for the Human Rights, Children’s Legal Issues and Employment Law Committees.
• Preparing submissions, representing the Law Society at external meetings, and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders from government, civil society and the private sector.
• Providing briefings on policy and practice issues to the President, CEO and Media Advisor.

• Developed and implemented global thematic campaigns on education financing, the gender digital divide, and the UN Habitat III New Urban Agenda.
• Co-facilitated workshops to develop the advocacy and campaigning capacity of colleagues from country offices in Uganda, Senegal, Pakistan and the Philippines.
• Prepared research reports and thought leadership articles on children’s rights, sustainable development and digital technology.

• Walk Free Foundation is an international human rights organisation that aims to end modern slavery in this generation. Highlights with Walk Free included:
• Launched and led public campaigns for corporate policy change and national law reform, focused on Australia, New Zealand, Nigeria and Thailand
• Organised training seminars for Walk Free’s global network of campaign partners
• Achieved growth of over 100 per cent in Walk Free’s Australian supporter numbers
• Conducted research towards a report estimating the economic cost of modern slavery worldwide

I advised the Australian Human Rights Institute on their production of “Sogi's Story” (www.sogistory.com), a multimedia human rights resource with the aim of tackling homophobia in sub-Saharan Africa. My contribution included assisting with initial research, preparing a fact sheet to accompany the resource, and arranging pilot testing.

• This position was based in Accra, and funded through AusAID’s Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development Program. Highlights at HRAC Ghana included:
• Managed a two year, US$200,000 research and advocacy project supported by DFID, DANIDA, the EU and USAID to promote access to health services for people most at risk of exposure to HIV
• Lead researcher and author of a report assessing the living conditions at Ampain Refugee Camp using an international law framework
• Developed relationships with government stakeholders, international NGOS, UN agencies and civil society organisations
• Prepared training materials and co-facilitated a three-day workshop in January 2013 on the topic of “Understanding Stigma and Discrimination in Ghana”, in collaboration with the Health Policy Project (HPP)

• As Legal Associate to the head of Australia’s largest federal Court, my responsibilities included:
• Preparing legal research and advice on all areas of the Court’s jurisdiction including family law, human rights, migration and industrial law
• Drafting speeches on topics including people trafficking, surrogate parenting and access to justice
