As an expert in financial reporting, both IFRS and UK GAAP, I am passionate about the importance of high quality corporate reporting for the efficient operation of capital markets. The economic turmoil of recent years highlights the need for clear, understandable, focussed yet comprehensive financial information to ensure readers of accounts understand what businesses do, how they are doing them and the consequent risks for them and the wider economy.I bring this passion to bear both in my role as Director of Accounting and Reporting Policy at the Financial Reporting Council. My team are responsible for the development of UK Financial Reporting Standards and guidance on the preparation of the annual report as a whole, with a particular focus on encouraging Clear and Concise reporting. We also look to influence developments in International Financial Reporting Standards and EU legislation. I am also a member of the Technical Expert's Group advising the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group Board.
