I joined the Test and Integration Team on the Mounted Mission Command – Software (MMC-S) system—the successor to JBC-P. My knowledge and expertise of Army systems, messaging protocols, networking, databases, virtualization, mobile applications, and Unix-like operating systems allowed me fill a crucial role in troubleshooting complex, non-deterministic behavior models, analyzing system behavior, identifying root causes, and recommending solutions.Due to my unique exposure and skillset, I also worked with the JBC-P Network Operations Center (NOC) Development Team as needed to test early development builds of the NOC software, ensuring its new functionality operates as expected while also running focused regression tests on existing core capabilities.With my expertise in the system (including its architecture and broader environment) and with Network/System Administration, the Lab Infrastructure Team often consulted with me to correct issues with existing networks and to expand the test lab providing new components and capability for the Development and Test Teams. This included cabling and deployment of virtualization servers, specialized system hardware, switches, and serial-over-IP devices.

As part of a Japanese software development company, I developed new iOS and web applications as part of customer contracts, as well as fixing and modernizing existing applications. I worked on iOS applications both by myself or by leading a small team of developers. I worked with the graphic designers and other developers on PHP/Laravel-based web applications—both for desktop and for mobile.

In the Japanese public school system, I provided consultation to Japanese teachers of English in creating and executing lesson plans, while assisting during classroom demonstrations. I rotated among 2 Middle and 3 Elementary Schools in Bungo-Ono City, assisting teachers as needed. I also attended extra-curricular activities, such as adult-focused weeknight English classes, as well as student Summer Camps providing an opportunity for language immersion.

As a Systems Engineer, I managed and wrote requirements for the Joint Battle Command – Platform (JBC-P), the successor system to JCR/FBCB2. I drafted and maintained technical documentation for the system, and I coordinated with the Test and Development Teams to ensure accuracy of critical system functionality.On the Test and Integration Team, I created procedures to test functionality during formal test events; worked with Systems Engineering and Development to reproduce defects, isolate root causes, and recommend solutions; and represented the team during large-scale, external testing events.
