My work career has been quite diverse. With a degree in biological sciences I started work as a secondary school teacher. I then moved into vocational training before joining the IT department of Bonlac Foods and then going to the utilities industry where I gained extensive experience in project management and business analysis. I was involved as a member or chairperson of several industry committees.I recently consulted at Meridian Energy Australia, working on developing a technology strategy and project delivery. Key elements of this engagement are the delivery of communications and and network services for a new wind farm that is under construction, establishment of a new head office and several smaller projects. Before that I was the Manager of Technology Services for a school where I was responsible for the development of IT strategy, management of the technology budget and maintenance and support of a user environment with an extensive wired and wireless LAN and over 1000 end point devices. I have also worked for several years as a freelance journalist and have excellent communication skills - both written and as a presenter. As a journalist, I aim to deliver the highest quality writing that meets the needs of my editors and readers.I was the editor of Australian Macworld and Technology Decisions and have contributed to many other publications. I appear on radio regularly. I have also appeared on A Current Affair, Today Tonight, The Project, The Business and other national TV shows.I present at conferences and events, and provide media training and talk about subjects critical for my clients' success. My aim is to take the skills I've gained over the last 20 years of my career as a teacher, analyst, manager and communicator to work with companies in achieving their specific goals. My greatest skill is the ability to take complex processes and concepts and present them to a broad audience without insulting the intelligence of my readers, listeners and viewers.
