I work under Dr. Marcus Malek and Dr. Hannah Rinehardt in conjunction with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) to study neuroblastoma and other childhood cancers. I focus mostly on data collection and the use of computer databases to assess healthcare deprivation in pediatric cancer patients.During the summer of 2024, I will be focusing on studies of ganglioneuroma, a rare generally benign nerve tumor related to neuroblastoma, and ovarian teratomas.

Our lab group's focus is on the study of synthesized lipid compounds, such as pseudoleukotrienes and cytokines, and their effects on various types of epithelial cells. Currently, my focus is on treating retinal epithelial cells, such as ARPE-19 cells, with our synthesized pseudoleukotrienes and how that affects cell signaling pathways that lead to diseases like macular degeneration and cancer.

As a 3D printing assistant, I help to develop patient-specific anatomical models that allow for diagnostic imaging to be translated from a computer into the physical world. I work under Dr. Anish Ghodadra at the UPMC 3D Printing Program on a variety of projects, including an isopropyl alcohol recycler to recover used alcohol that has been contaminated with resin. Our models are used in clinical settings as surgical guides and as tools to practice surgeries before they happen. Outside of the OR, our models are also used for educational purposes, which can help patients, students, and physicians understand complex anatomy better. This program blends medicine and engineering in an elegant way by developing 3D models and other tools to advance patient care.
