The Healthy and Sustainable Homes Service offers a range of services including: Prevention Services: An early intervention service aimed at reducing falls and promoting safety in the home. Immediate works carried out in addition to tailored interventions with Practitioner support. Adaptation Services: Delivering minor and major adaptations across all tenures plus a range of other assistance including advice and loans. This service also seeks to ensure that no one should be living in filthy and verminous conditions. Advisory and Regulatory Services: Regulating the private rented sector including licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs). Receiving and responding to complaints from tenants to ensure that their homes are free from hazards and meet the minimum legal standards. Working with landlords/agents to ensure that they understand the laws by offering training programmes etc. Energy Efficiency Services: A team who are delivering Government grant funding programmes to private properties across the Better Homes York area and co-ordinating the delivery of retrofit energy saving measures to the Council's own stock. We also deal with empty properties ensuring that they are brought back into use as quickly as possible through advice, loans and enforcement action.
