I did just about anything legal that they asked of me. This included repairs, rework, breakdowns and trouble shooting on the following equipment: Transhipper, Tugboats, Barges, Crew boats, Bucket Reclaimer, Stackers, Barge Loader, conveyors, transfer chutes, pumps and piping, water systems, Safety systems, and anything else marine or mining. I worked on land and out to sea. Filled in as a Machine Room Operator on Transhipper.

Basically I was an assistant Planner. My job role included: Perform/assist in various technical tasks including:• Isolation Procedure & Maintenance Instruction creation (group & individual) and undertaking• Work order generation in SAP R/3, have used R/1 and R/2. Some scheduling with Primavera.• Permit to Work, Hot work permit, Working at Heights, Confined space system tasks• Carry out maintenance of various types of gearboxes, pumps, valves, hydraulics, hoists, winches, conveyors and propriety equipment.• Involved with planning, plant setup, Multiple Group Isolations and commissioning• Carry out breakdown work as required. Types of problems ranging from simple (e.g. pipe blockages) to more complex (e.g. critical hydraulic system issues)• Hydraulic maintenance• Move spares and goods (hazardous and non-hazardous) around site, with or without telehandler• Fault finding and trouble shooting on a wide variety of equipment• Coupling, shaft, gearbox, motor and pump alignment and change outs• Calibration and use of Gas Monitors• Technical support as required• Supervision• Daily routine and Quality Critical inspections• Engineering drawing interpretation• ARC welding and thermal cutting• Training personnel in equipment operation• Working unsupervised (self-directed)• Inspect spares to determine fit for use• Improvement idea generation, trial and implementation• Carrying out plant modifications, improvements, and trials• Writing and updating reports• Isolation point & equipment labelling• Liaise with manufacturers, repairers, engineers, and salespeople• New product/process design evaluation• Use power drills, magnetic drills, impact hammers, grinders, die grinders, core drills, impact guns, water blasters, grease guns, hydraulic pumps and jacks, bearing pullers, pipe threading machines, digital inclinometers, and electronic inspection aids.• Trouble shooting, installation and maintenance of equipment, etc,etc

I got Apprentice of the year for the Illawarra. Asked for early leave from Apprentice Board and had it granted.
