The Capita Symonds’ partnership with North Tyneside Council began in November 2012.The 15-year contract will see the company providing a package of technical services to the council including property; planning and building control; highways and engineering; and consumer protection services.Capita Symonds has made the following commitments to North Tyneside Council: • To share accommodation as a foundation for true partnership working; • To improve services through a combination of investment, systems redesign and change management; • To invest in people, services and the local economy - the investment is expected to exceed £20m; • To exceed the council’s savings targets and commit to more than £40m savings over the life of the partnership; • To provide at least 100 additional Capita Symonds jobs and double the turnover of the partnership in the first five years; To provide a no redundancy guarantee.In my role as Senior Project Manager I have the responsibility of delivering the construction phase of all non-core civil engineering works. Key duties involve liaising with the client, early contractor involvement with design teams, planning, forecasting and operational support.Key contracts that I have worked on to date include Victoria Crescent Improvements, Spanish City Public Realm and the Jupiter Parc @ Swans Infrastructure works.

At Fastflow I had the role of Project Manager on a number of their Trunk Mains Cleaning contracts for Northumbrian Water.The role involved planning and executing the works, liaising with the client and landowners, managing health and safety on site and managing commercial aspects of the project including forecasting and cost monitoring.

As Sub Agent I had responsibility for all engineering aspects of construction work and I had the task of supervising a team of foremen, engineers, operatives and specialist subcontractors.Notable projects include Fenwick Eccles Land Reclamation and Ouseburn Bridge Restoration.Daily activities included supervising the construction works, managing the contract programme, identifying and managing change, cost forecasting and managing health and safety.

As Section Engineer at Carillion I was responsible for supervising a team of site engineers to deliver construction schemes on site.Notable projects include Blue House Bridge Replacement, Lambton Cokeworks Remediation, Whitley Bay Central Promenade and Havannah Interchange Strengthening.Responsibilities included preparing risk assessments and method statements, quality assurance, material take off and ordering and short term programming.
