I evaluated and processed claims for individual economic loss made to the Deepwater Horizon Settlement program. I analyzed the factual basis of a claim and compared it to the legal requirements of the Settlement. This includes keeping track of and implementing the consistent and constant updates to our protocols and procedures. I balanced a high volume of information while still evaluating claims accurately under tight time constraints.

Under the supervision of an experienced attorney, I assisted in various litigation matters. My responsibilities included legal research, drafting motions, and organizing discovery. My work was principally self-directed as I learn by doing.In addition, I also consulted with individuals concerning their rights under the applicable employment laws.

I recovered wages on behalf of victims of wage withholding, directly negotiating with opposing parties and arriving at favorable settlement terms. I also provided legal research in support of a lien foreclosure lawsuit. I represented clients on unemployment compensation claims before administrative law judges.

The Moderate Means Program is a bar-sponsored program linking moderate-income clients with attorneys willing to represent them at a reduced rate. For the program, I conducted intake interviews with the clients. Then, I performed an initial legal analysis of the client's situation. Finally, I organized the client's file, found an attorney that practices in the area of the client's issue, and sent the file and my analysis to the attorney.

In the chambers of the Honorable John Erlick, I wrote legal memoranda concerning legal issues before the court. I also performed more informal legal analysis for issues that required quick turn-around, typically in an hour or less. I spent the rest of my time observing trials and debriefing my observations with Judge Erlick.

Completed a U-Visa application on behalf of a victim of domestic violence. Conducted interviews, arranged for a translator, procured forms, and managed the application process.

Directed more than fifty employees in the execution of necessary selling behavior. Developed sales for the second largest Borders store south of Los Angeles. Led the store to the number one position in book drive sales and donations company-wide. Interviewed, trained, and developed new hires. Fashioned the visual presentation of the store per company guidelines.
