This includes understanding the intricacies of rigging configurations and ensuring that all operations adhere to strict safety guidelines.A key focus is learning how to lay jumpers and umbilicals, vital components in subsea operations. As I develop expertise in this, I’m taking on a leadership role, overseeing the laying process to ensure accuracy and efficiency. This requires precise planning, coordination, and a thorough understanding of operational procedures and safety protocols.In addition to hands-on work, I am enhancing my technical skills by learning RISA, AutoCAD, and MathCad, software used to create detailed models of jumper systems, seafastening, and rigging details. As an Intern Port Engineer, my role was pivotal in learning the smooth operation and maintenance of a fleet comprising of five vessels. My responsibilities were diverse and demanded a blend of technical expertise, logistical coordination, critical thinking, and environmental stewardship.Maintenance was at the core of my duties, requiring to meticulously plan and execute maintenance schedules for the fleet. I gained hands-on experience in maintaining and troubleshooting various engine types, including MAN, Caterpillar, Cummins, and Detroit diesel main engines. My proficiency extended to generator maintenance, encompassing Northern Lights and John Deere generators. All while keeping a thorough log of the maintenance. Beyond mechanical systems, I delved into the complexities of diesel fault codes, electrical issues involving Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and other electrical systems onboard. Collaboration was key in my role, as I worked closely with the Chief Port Engineer to strategize maintenance schedules and coordinate with shipyards and third-party companies for repairs and parts procurement.
