Graduated with a B.S. in Microbiology from UWM in 2016. Two months after graduation I was hired by Dr. Cheryl Stucky at MCW as a tech I. I was originally hired for my experience with various cell culture and molecular techniques (PCR, qPCR, WB, etc.), both of which were learned with my undergraduate studies and in Dr Kuchin's yeast genetics lab (one semester for credit, one semester as a volunteer). Dr. Stucky's area of study is Neuroscience, so I was taught primary cell culture (keratinocyte, neurons, fibroblasts), which has also included passaging/maintaining transfected HEK cell lines. My experience also includes electrophysiology, specifically teased nerve fiber recordings, in which I’ve contributed data to numerous published papers and funded grants.In 2019 I was promoted to Lab Coordinator. My duties include overseeing a large mouse colony (32 lines), procurement, general lab oversight/troubleshooting, technical training, and experimental design. I work within a larger team, but also have more direct communication with the lab techs that work alongside me. I also participate in various projects within our lab and through collaborations in our department, and at other institutions.
