Originally from southern California, Anthony Ray is a Salt Lake city-based choral musician, genealogist, and writer. He was a member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale and Seattle-based choral ensemble Chorosynthesis. He was a staff tenor at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, Hollywood and St. Paul the Apostle, Westwood. He is currently a member of the Sound of Ages and Rocky Mountain Chamber Singers, both based in Salt Lake. He has performed with many choral ensembles including the Sunday Night Singers, Tonality, Lore, and many other southern California-based groups, and has worked with such esteemed conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Grant Gershon, Jenny Wong, Eric Whitacre, Maria Guinand, Alan Gilbert, Zubin Mehta, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Susana Mälkki among many others. He can be heard in the recent recordings of music by Scott Perkins, Eric Whitacre, and in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. His voice has been described as particularly suited for early music and baroque styles.Anthony is the administrator of music for the Cathedral of the Madeleine (Roman Catholic) in Salt Lake City. In addition to his duties as administrator (listed below), he is also a cantor and chorister.In addition to being a musician, Anthony is a historical researcher, specializing in early California history. He holds bachelor degrees from West Coast Baptist College and California State University, Los Angeles. He is currently working on a Master of Arts in Theology from St. John's School of Theology, Collegeville, MN.
