As principal of Sheepmatters, independent sheep production advice with integrity is paramount to my business.I also own (with my wife) a commercial sheep farm at Cootamundra, SW Slopes, NSW. It is based around a 1500 hd merino flock with improved pastures. This is a commercial operation in its own right, but is also important as an extension to my clients. It is important to me that I not only give advice, but also practice it myself. What makes my business unique is that I back up my advice by making sure it is applied by my clients into their sheep production system. I do this by visiting on farm at important times through the year, and make sure best practice is applied.I want my clients to have a productive livestock operation, which means it can be profitable. When we have this, we then can identify non productive sheep, get them out of the system, and therefore have only sheep that are making the owner money, instead of costing them money.I am heavily involved in using Electronic Identification to identify production, with all on Farm clients having implemented electronic ear tags in the sheep. When we get to this, my clients find that they are also time smart, not time poor. This is important for work vs family time balance. Happy client means more productive client, which then means a more productive operation.Professionally I am a full member of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology and I am Ag Credited, meaning I have meet minimal industry guidelines that are required. This organisation is without doubt what all agricultural professional consultants aspire to be associated with, as it gives complete confidence for my clients that what I advise is with the best integrity backed by science and facts.I am a facilitator for the Life Time Ewe Management program and also a Sheep CRC Productivity and Well being project facilitator.I was voted by my peers to be Vice Chairman of LambEx 2016
