My Name is Anthony Thacker, but I go by Tony. I was born and raised in Utah where I have resided most of my life. I grew up watching my mother cook from scratch and was almost always involved with the methods. This lead me to find various restaurant jobs all through high school. After high school, I entered the manual labor work force joining the crew at Sandy City Parks and Recreation department. This gave me the opportunity to learn hard work, dedication and leadership skills. I decided to pursue my passion for food, enrolled in culinary school and obtained my AAS in Culinary Arts which ushered me to my Executive Chef position. This was as challenging and exhausting as it was fulfilling and rewarding. I gained the understanding of how important being organized, detailed and thorough can be. Timelines were important, execution was critical and teamwork was a must. I always had the best interest of my staff in mind, because they are the only way we can be successful...Building my "bench" became important when I needed to rely on people. In December of 2017, my elderly father severely injured himself in fall at home. With the support of my wife, I was able to walk away from my role as Chef and become his support and caretaker through his recovery. It was during this that I found new "soft skills" like compassion, empathy and patients. With the desire to spend more time with my family and armed with my newfound skillset, I entered the Animal Welfare world. In my four years at the Humane Society of Utah, I honed and sharpened my leadership skills as well as my soft skills to become a successful manager in many different areas. I have recently relocated to the Carlsbad, California area with my wife and would love to opportunity to find something that would fit my vast skillset while offering my experience (both professional and in life) to help fellow employees.
