I am a media/public relations professional who most recently worked as a Press Assistant in the Office of Mayor Muriel Bowser. In my previous role, I handled a wide range of communications tasks from messaging, operations, public relations, media relations, event planning/execution, and more. I graduated from the George Washington University in 2022 with an MA in Media and Strategic Communications as part of a combined degree program, on a full-ride, merit based scholarship. I graduated from undergrad in 2021, magna cum laude, with a BA in Political Communications. Before my current role, I worked at a Public Relations firm called Seven Letter for a year, serving in several positions within the firm.I was a Content Specialist at Seven Letter. As a Content Specialist, my responsibilities included but were not limited to: social media management and social calendar drafting, organizing meetings and events, blog post/Op-Ed/LTE/press release drafting, agendas, media monitoring, metrics reports, newsletters, client interaction, and research. Before this role, I was a Communications Specialist at Seven Letter. In this role I completed a wide range of tasks ranging from tailoring communications for our clients, to doing research on our client's targets through focus groups and surveys, and much more. Before that, I was a Communications Fellow at Seven Letter, where I helped create social posts to suit our client's messaging, helped conduct background and opposition research, conducted daily media monitoring, and worked on improving our client's outreach. Before this, I interned for a progressive communications firm called New Heights Communications. At New Heights, I conducted outreach on behalf of progressive organizations, helped tailor their messaging, helped write op-eds, and gained a great deal of useful experience in communications work. In the Summer of 2020, I interned for my local representative, Janeese Lewis George, gaining experience by assisting her in improving her outreach and event planning. Furthermore, I have gained experience working as part of GWU's summer housing staff. All of this is expanded upon in my resume (attached). I currently hope to pursue a career in advocacy work for progressive policy, organizations, and politicians.
