Anthony Torres has a unique blend of skills and interests and has made a significant contributions for the companies he has worked for in the last 10 years. He is a scientist and trail-blazer. He began his career in the tech industry in 2013 and has enabled advancements in research and supported regulatory implementation, method validation, data acquisition and analysis, and 17025 testing accreditation in several regulatory jurisdictions including HI, CA, WA, PA, MD, NM, AR, VT, and MS. His experience in secondary metabolite analysis, residual contaminant, and microbial testing, ranges across various regulated contaminants including microbial organisms such as pathogenic Aspergillus species and E Coli. His expertise has leveraged multiple molecular diagnostic testing methodologies for secondary metabolite pathway analysis with a focus on regulatory compliance and improved performance. He has extensive method development experience in protein characterization, molecular cloning, qPCR/PCR, NGS, sequencing, microarray, and plating assays. He has two issued patents as a major contributor (US 11473096 and US 11739374).Currently, Anthony Torres manages molecular biology research projects within various internal and external collaborative research with academic institutes and industry. He has 10 years of experience in performing advanced technical experience including with Genotyping, NGS, LCMS and GCMS UV/photodiode array and Mass Spectral methods. Anthony received his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Science degrees at the University of San Francisco. He began his graduate thesis work in January of 2011 and completed in December of 2012. Over the last five years, Anthony has been working to better understand, develop assays, and characterize specific cannabis genes in the cannabinoid and terpenoid biosynthesis pathway for predictive and targeted cannabis breeding models. He has successfully cloned and characterized, through in vitro studies, several cannabis genes/proteins and their metabolic activities when expressed.
