Works with the court system and others, documenting and ensuring offenders complete court mandated community service hours at public or non-profit agencies. Coordinates and facilitates the scheduling of offenders into community service placements. Screens each offender for placement and fully explains the rules of the program. Determines where the offender will be able to work taking into consideration the location and the type of work. Conducts case reviews weekly. Conducts follow ups every two to four weeks with each agency to see how many hours the defendants have worked and if there are any problems with the placement. Assesses difficulty of community service assignments and determines if special credit should be awarded for work performed. Maintains appropriate documentation and records for the Alternative Sentencing Program and enters all pertinent information into the computer system. Prepares written reports to the courts and others with the accurate number of hours worked and the last day worked for all defendants appearing in court. Appears in Court at the request of the Associate Court Judge or minimum of twice per week to report on defendant work progress. Submits monthly reports outlining completions, new interviews, terminations and total hours and days worked by clients. Submits required statistical reports to the Department of Corrections as required. Responsible for the recruitment of non-profit agencies to utilize offenders from Alternative Sentencing. Serves as liaison with outside agencies involved with the Alternative Sentencing Program. Develops and maintains community relations through working with interested groups and organizations to develop and retain qualified work sites. Develops and implements staff training on alternative sentencing issues. Assesses program needs and develop objectives, goals, and standards accordingly. Monitor program performance and implement suggestions for improvement.
