During my four years with Deloitte Corporate Finance I gained extensive M&A transaction experience, managing both buy-side and sell-side transaction service assignments for Private Equity, listed corporates and banking clients. My role was focused on acquisitive investment into Sub-Saharan Africa and I have been involved in cross-border assignments spanning 15 Sub-Saharan African countries, including leading teams in South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Botswana.I was part of the core Deloitte Africa Corporate Finance team, meeting international investors to discuss Sub-Saharan Africa investment opportunities and challenges whilst executing M&A activity on the continent.I was actively involved in the development and integration of Deloitte member firms in Sub-Saharan Africa through on the job training and presenting annual training weeks in Lagos and Johannesburg.I worked mainly in the manufacturing and consumer business industries, but also gained significant exposure to the aviation, financial services and services industries.

My responsibilities included managing interim and year-end audits with audit teams of up to seven members. I reviewed complex accounting technical issues, including impairments, acquisitions and disposals, goodwill recognition, revenue recognition, long term contract accounting and group consolidations. During this period I gained significant exposure to IFRS and UK GAAP accounting standards and reviewed annual financial statements to assess compliance with these standards.
