At imei the role of the Managing Director acts as the bridge between the future looking strategic view of our CEO and the present focused tactical view of the day to day functions of the business. Sometimes described as an Integrator, I bring together all of the operational areas spanning Sales & Marketing through Operations to Finance and Administration to meet the needs of our clients and partners. Instrumental to this is working as a Coach developing the skills and capabilities of the Management team. As a result, I am continually striving to find the balance between being sceptical in the face of exuberance, encouraging in the face of pessimism and remaining cool in the heat of battle. Since taking on the duties of the CFO in November 2013, I have found that I am faced with four diverse and challenging components to my role. The two traditional roles are steward, preserving the assets of the organisation by minimising risk, ensuring regulatory compliance and getting the books right, and operator, running a tight finance operation that is efficient and effective as well as seeking to deliver superior service at reduced cost. Balanced against these are the increasingly important requirements to act as a strategist, helping to shape overall strategy and direction, and catalyst, instilling a financial approach and mind set throughout imei to help other parts of the business perform better.

As Executive Director, I am responsible for the transition of imei’s core operating technologies and proprietary systems to support the organisations plan to operate across the globe. Areas of focus include upgrading all systems to support multiple carriers, multiple languages and multiple currencies.I am also responsible for the design, development and implementation of any new systems the organisations may consider for utilisation in day-to-day operations. The key drivers when evaluating new systems are reduction in support costs or increased customer satisfaction measured by the organisations Net Promoter Score (NPS).
