Application Developer
Pontiac, Michigan, United States
During my time interning at United Wholesale Mortgage I learned an incredible amount about the application development process and agile methodology. Everyday I spent time with my home team of full time UWM team members which consisted of a team leader, two business analysts, quality engineer, quality analyst, and four software developers. My internship centered around the business analyst role, where I shadowed and worked with the business analysts on my home team to assist in writing user stories and helping in the development process. During this time I gained invaluable knowledge of the application development process including agile methodology, sprint planning and organization, and the day to day of a development team. I also spent half of my time during this internship working with a summer team member group as the teams business analyst. Our group consisted of myself and six other summer interns. We worked on a flashcard application that helped team members to remember each others names, faces and roles. As the business analyst of the team I wrote user stories, delegated the workload during each sprint, spoke to our stakeholders to collect project requirements, and prioritized our backlog to organize our future sprints. This opportunity grew my skills in collecting requirements for projects as well as organizing a development team and prioritizing our tasks. During this time I also attended classes given to the summer team members in JavaScript, React.js, Material-UI, and Microservices. We utilized all of these courses during our project and they all grew my knowledge in each of them.
