I played an instrumental role in expanding capacity at this startup manufacturing company that enabled this organization to rapidly fulfill orders to meet unprecedented growth. I acted as Project Manager and Lead Engineer and led organizational design critical in creating structure essential in executing increased needs. I also spearheaded quality programs.

I was promoted to lead operations manufacturing for xanthan and gellan gums as well as other fermentation-derived hydrocolloids. I oversaw $250M–$350M OpEx and $120M CapEx budgets; collaborated with executive leadership; and championed Customer Focus, EH&S, PSM, ESG, and DEI initiatives at all plants. In this role, I launched the company’s first global engineering team dedicated to capital projects and process safety management (PSM). I innovated engineering methodology and implemented a risk-based capital planning process to ensure best use of CapEx. Managed annual and 5-year budgets for 10 sites in 8 countries. During this time, I drove commercialization of proprietary pilot plant process that secured raw material supply of exceptional quality citrus peel used in pectin production. I assembled a team of scientists, agronomists, engineers, procurement from Denmark, Germany, Brazil, U.S. and collaborated with outside engineering and vendors to design and develop.

During my tenure, I reduced technical risk associated with operations by developing / implementing corporate policy, procedures, and training for process and project engineering practices.
