I am known for criminal law - including business crime, fraud, corruption and general crime, and I am also Chairman of the Royal Court Theatre.I qualified in 1972 and have over 40 years experience as a criminal practitioner. I joined as a partner in 1976 back when the firm was called Simons Muirhead and Allan, and then after a few years and a few changes the firm became known amd Simons Muirhead and Burton as it is known today. From the beginning there was a large music and criminal practice within the firm, and over the years it has developed its civil practice. In the early 1970's We started representing people on death row and eventually founded a charity, housed within our firm, known as the Death Penalty Project - initially for people in the Caribbean and now operating internationally. Much of our firm's work originally came from a human rights angle and these beliefs and ideals still remain a significant part of the soul of the practice of our work today - even in our commercial and media work.
