Seaforth powder coaters is a job shop with a work force of around 15 people. It specialises in powder coating aluminium extrusions for the building industry in colours and batches un-economical to provide by larger shops.Responsibilities:Improve business profitability to a set target, through better costing of activities, re-quoting and negotiating with existing customers.Revising terms and conditionsUndertake various engineering type activities as requestedMentor the existing Production Manager to assist in his development Achievements:Profitability was increased by approximately 100% achieving the targets set while retaining the current customer base.Created, posted and trained key people on Standard Operating Procedures such as Demineralisation plant, including basic trouble shootingCalibration of trade waste systemDosing of the acid pre-treatment system including the installation and use of a new dosing pump.

Prior to it's closure, Bridgestone Australia manufactured approximately 1.8 million tyres p.a. at it's Salisbury plant for OEM and aftermarket customers. It employed around 600 employees. Processes included rubber compound mixing, component preparations, product assembly, vulcanising, inspection and testing. Production routes were complex and diverse.My team consisted of 9 supervisors and approximately 150 employees.Responsibilities included:Lead a production team in the mixing compound and component preparation areas.Manage daily production and quality requirements in a safe and cost effective manner.Develop and execute results focused initiatives for improving team performance against key criteria and develop strategies to mitigate against forseeable riskEvaluate the performance and conduct of team membersMotivate and support team members to achieve goalsMaintain budgets for labour, overtime, scrap and not for inventory items ($10m p.a.)Achievements:Successfully undertook a series of fixed guard improvements to reduce the risk of serious injury on the compound mixing area. Due to budget constraints, improvement actions were prioritised according to the risk reduction per dollar spent.Reduce faulty material for cap ply, measured in weight return from the customer, the reduction was from 200kg to 50kg per month
