Koios is a company that develops a construction methodology based on artificial intelligence and big data to help tackle the manpower distribution to stay on schedule and to raise flags for specific activities on projects that need attention. The method has been developed since 2019 on R&D by myself and we are now heading to commercialize the method into an application!

My position involved starting two big projects in the Ottawa/Gatineau area. Preparing all the paperwork, finding sub trades, redacting the contracts, cash flow, risk mitigation, etc.

Anything that touches construction management, I do. Blueprint reading, specifications overview, tender filing, estimation, site safety analysis and plans, manpower management, crisis management, communicate with clients and firms to develop strategies and get the work done. I’ve worked on projects and did bids in the $3-5M range. Current big projects that I am running alone are concrete/cladding repairs at 473 Albert St under the Cleland & Jardine firm. And some that I am running with Jonathan Hébert are the masonry restoration of Zibi located at 3 Rue Eddy and 6 Booth St. We are also doing the full restoration of the masonry and main facade of Le Capitole de Québec which is a historical building that is known for its shows that it offered to the public. Day to day tasks and responsibilities: - Read my foremen’s daily report and see if I must intervene if the schedule is falling behind. - Problem solving from work sites, sub-contractors, irate neighbors, by-laws, city inspectors, etc. - Administrative tasks like notice of projects, WSIB, license and certification check of employees and sub-contractors, site safety plans, filing, etc. - Prepare and document important points in proposals and contractual documents.- Blueprint reading and going over specs with the estimator. - Holding and coordinating meetings with clients, firms, sub-contractors. - Monthly progress draw of projects to send for invoicing. - The three big projects running right now I have teams of 8-20 people working on different sites excluding sub-contractors. I also run smaller projects ranging from $50k- 250k.

I ran the schedules for trades, did deficiencies list, held weekly meetings, etc. I also implemented cloud management tools like Trello and Fieldwire, for deficiencies and schedule management. Day to day tasks and responsibilities: - Directing and scheduling trades for big projects. - Running sites with 50-70 employees at a time. - Holding weekly meetings with foremen of trades to coordinate logistics, operations, deliveries, etc. - Held monthly meetings with project managers to see the status. - Document deficiencies, create reports to send out to respective trades with a schedule to fix them. - Reading blueprints with trades and finding solutions to blueprint incoherence. - Made weekly detailed report sent to project manager and owner on how the project is going. - 460 St-Laurent, Ottawa, ON was a $40M project. - 1 Rue de l’Horizon, Gatineau, QC was a $36M project.
