Current• Underwent a rigorous training program conducted by the Museum education department and gained insights into how the visual arts can support and develop creative/critical thinking that facilitates proactive learning and meaning making. • Developed an understanding of common characteristics of children under the age of 6, (Social-Emotional, Physical, Cognitive, and Language) and the strategies that facilitate learning, keeping those characteristics into account.• Learn and apply the core principles of Project Zero- a Harvard Graduate School of Education Initiative. Document learning behaviors of individuals (especially school groups) while they engage in art learning experiences like observation and/or critique.• Underwent professional development through access to education and training opportunities to build my teaching practice.• Built thorough understanding of the key characteristics (social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development) of (i) Kindergartners, (ii) First Graders, and (ii) Second Graders, and educational implications.• Process information from readings and walkthrough tours in the gallery: Document personal reflections on how ideas about teaching and learning have shifted/changed.• Conduct research: using the museum’s curatorial files, articles, catalogues, and reference works for presentations.• Develop an understanding of (i) themes and concerns in American culture and history through American Art movements like Hudson River School (ii) Dutch Culture and its early influence in North America, (iii) art as a useful resource for engaging students on subjects like world history, the Founding of the United States, Visual and Cultural analysis, geography, world religion, and social studies. • As lead docent, coordinate with schools and museum staff to plan, develop, and conduct tours for grades K-12 in line with current education trends (Project Zero Thinking) using research-based tools and strategies.
