I am a program evaluator with about 17 years of montoring, evaluation and research experience in the health and human services field. I see evidence as vital to understanding and solving social problems in order to achieve social justice. To that end, I help program stakeholders understand community needs, develop logic models, define and measure success, and apply findings to improve programs. My experience covers the full M&E lifecycle, including: NEEDS ASSESSMENTS: Conducting surveys, focus groups, in-depth interviews, literature reviews, and analyses of existing data to understand community needs, priorities, and strengths. LOGIC MODELS: Developing logic models that: articulate a program’s theory of change; help stakeholders identify gaps in the causal chain of inputs, activities, outputs, and outcomes; and guide the development of key evaluation questions. PROGRAM OUTCOMES: Identifying key program outcomes and measures of success that are both meaningful and feasible. EVALUATION PLANS: Developing and implementing evaluation plans that specify key evaluation questions, study design, indicators, data sources and collection methods, quality-checking protocols, analytical plans, and reporting timelines. PERFORMANCE MONITORING SYSTEMS: Working with database developers and data analysts to set up systems for collecting, quality checking, analyzing, and visualizing monitoring data. REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS: Developing reports and presentations on evaluation findings. PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT: Working with stakeholders to apply evaluation findings to improve the reach, quality, efficiency, and outcomes of programs.I have a broad, continually growing, understanding of varied evaluation approaches (e.g., utilization focused-evaluation, CDC’s framework for program evaluation in public health) and study designs, data collection methods and analyses (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods).
