As a Deputy Manager at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), I am responsible for overseeing the procurement and management of Steel essential for BHEL operations in the Unified Procurement team of Strategy, Sourcing and Policy department at the Corporate office in New Delhi. I have over 10 years of experience in the capital goods industry, I have developed expertise in procurement, negotiation, value engineering, optimization of procurement process, strategic sourcing, vendor management, and risk management.My mission is to leverage my skills and knowledge to deliver cost savings, process improvements, and quality outcomes for BHEL. My efforts for implementation of cost optimization initiatives across BHEL, I was awarded the "Best Executive of the Quarter Award in Q1 of 2023-24". I have successfully implemented Material Consolidation and Optimization Portal (M-COP) across BHEL to optimize purchase strategies to reduce cost of procurement for Steel. Implemented Unified Material Code (UMC) and Unique Supplier Code for Steel across BHEL. My current responsibilities include:1. Market Analysis: Continuously monitoring commodity market to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that impact Steel supply chain efficiency. 2. Supplier Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with Steel suppliers to ensure quality, reliability and competitiveness. 3. Cost Optimization: Implementing strategies to reduce costs through effective sourcing, negotiation and contract management.4. Cross Functional collaboration: Working closely with engineering, production, and finance teams to align Steel sourcing strategies with overall business goals.5. Risk Management: Assessing and mitigating risks related to supply disruptions, price volatility and market changes for Steel.Additionally, I have procured structural products for various nuclear and thermal power plants, reducing cost by Rs.200 crore and lead time by 20%.
