Served as point of contact between 13 student service organizations and the Center, including responsibilities of resource provision and advising on development of community outreach programs. Solicited routine feedback from participating student organizations and implemented it to improve the program. Hosted a series of workshops to train student organizations in sustainable, mutually beneficial civic engagement. Designed and implemented a new workshop on “Community Engaged Leadership.” Served on the hiring committee for the Center’s newest administrator alongside campus-wide staff.

Conducted experiments to investigate regulatory mechanisms of normal and pathologic hematopoiesis. Handled and performed bone marrow extractions on mice. Performed DNA extractions, RNA extractions, PCR, qRT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blots, and cell cultures. Conducted literature reviews. Worked independently and in collaboration with a graduate student.

Implemented sustainable, culturally-sensitive solutions to increase access to menstrual hygiene education and products for adolescents. Designed games, posters, and fliers about menstruation for distribution in schools. Organized a focus group to solicit parental input on outreach programs. Developed a model for Days for Girls clubs in schools based on networking with existing school clubs in Accra. Traveled to middle schools to conduct education sessions about menstrual hygiene and distribute kits with reusable menstrual hygiene management products. Practically applied knowledge from Global Health and African Studies courses to community health projects while developing skills in cultural sensitivity in an international setting.

Organized academic, professional, and social events for a community of 80 first-year women pursuing STEM fields. Facilitated weekly seminars for the community. Individually mentored eight first-year women each year.

Formulated research questions and designed experiments to investigate chemical mechanisms yielding the first macromolecules pertinent to the origin of life. Developed skills of gathering and analyzing existing data to form and investigate a data-based hypothesis.

Tutored one fifth grade and one eleventh grade student in math weekly. Reviewed class material; assisted with homework and exam preparation; prepared and administered unique problem sets.
