As the People and Culture (P&C) Advisor at nib my role is varied. It is instrumental in enabling the P&C division to drive a leader led growth culture across the business. While I am responsible for the full employee lifecycle experience. My key areas of focus is recruitment, employee engagement initiatives, employee wellbeing and development.

This highly complex role was between a Start-Up design studio in the discipline of Design for Health as well as the Culture and Engagement within the Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies. The DHW Lab, and it’s successor, Good Health Design, is an internationally recognised design studio consisting of a multidisciplinary team of designers and researchers working on improving experiences of healthcare in the hospital and community settings. Within the design studio, my role was responsible for managing all functions to ensure a smooth running of the academic and commercial sides of the business. In the Culture and Engagement Advisor role my responsibility was to support and enable the development of an organisational culture where staff feel valued, supported, involved, engaged and empowered to work at AUT.

As the HR Coordinator I was responsible for supporting, developing and implementing a range of HR initiatives to deliver the annual People MAP (Management and Performance) plan, whilst anticipating and responding to changing business needs in a dynamic fast moving environment.

This role provided support and advice to managers on a range of employment and human resources related matters. Responsibilities include recruitment and selection, performance management and remuneration, learning and development and employment relations It was vital to be client/customer focused in this role and to always take initiative to identify learning and development opportunities for staff, but also to provide staff support on personal and work related problems. A large component of this role required you to coach and mentor managers through difficult conversations along with AUT policies and legislation and software through workshops and group coaching sessions. Part of recruitment and selection this role including writing job descriptions and adverts for managers at AUT, but also included planning, organising and being part of the interview panels through the faculty for various roles. This role played an ample part in understanding the staffing needs of the different departments across the portfolio.

This role was the first impression of the business. Clients were greeted in a warm, friendly, professional manner. Understanding the core business and the different brands under Momentum Consulting Group was essential along with looking after clients and job seekers. Key responsibilities included answering emails, phone, managing schedules, organising catering , uploading and shortlisting job applications.
