Lovebug is an iOS/Android React Native app that gives parents the tools and science-backed advice to help their little ones sleep through the night and develop into healthy kids. Parents and their care team log their little one’s activities in our app. When they submit their day, we analyze their logs to generate a custom schedule designed around their baby’s needs and provide video lessons they can use to find solutions to the causes of sleepless nights and short naps. Messaging Team ran mission-critical services responsible for messaging pipelines and pub/sub. The team provides a robust messaging foundation that includes in-transit and at-rest encryption, deduplication, guaranteed delivery, and quality of service capabilities. The Team’s services process millions of events per second and must be able to handle large bursts from busy customers while smoothing load for other Box services.Notification Team is responsible for the 1.8 billion+ emails and 3.3 billion+ push notifications sent to Box customers yearly. The team continues to enhance the capabilities of their Java/Spring-based services to support new use cases and replace our legacy notification systems. We work collaboratively with other Build teams to effectively deliver and fine-tune their notifications to enhance collaboration across Box products.

On the Notification Team, I led the design, owned the vision, and drove the implementation of the new Notification Service, starting from MVP, to improve and deliver delightful notification experiences to Box users. Over the next year, I worked with Product to build a solid foundation, deprecate our legacy notification systems, and prioritize features.

On the Webapp Performance Team, I focused on improving the customer experience by working cross-functionally to identify and resolve system performance bottlenecks.As the first engineer on the Notification Team, I led the design, owned the vision, and helped implement our MVP for Notification Service to improve and deliver delightful notification experiences to Box users.Technologies: Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, AWS SES, Apple/Google push services, and maintained legacy systems in PHP.

oSTEM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit professional association for LGBTQ+ people in the STEM community. oSTEM empowers LGBTQ+ people in STEM to succeed personally, academically, and professionally by cultivating environments and communities that nurture innovation, leadership, and advocacy. With over 100 student chapters at colleges/universities, oSTEM is the largest chapter-based organization focused on LGBTQ+ people in STEM.I held many roles over my tenure at oSTEM. I’m most proud of our work to grow the organization and ensure equitable access to our yearly conference, bringing students and companies together for a weekend of learning, empowerment, and opportunity.

AP Endeavors brought Dot Manager to market, a complete domain name registration and DNS management system. I focused on building an experience that was significantly simpler and more streamlined than others I had used and discovered.Ultimately this was an excellent learning experience — technically (concept to production, testing, monitoring, DR) and in business (incorporation and management). My main takeaway: sales is challenging and critical to every business.

Bonfire aimed to provide small businesses with the tools of large companies: from marketing and website solutions to a complete and straightforward back office SaaS. I worked with other engineers to develop and maintain our service offering, serving one million+ monthly visitors.

- Rapidly prototype and deliver enterprise tools to enhance engineer productivity- Utilize deep understanding of engineering organization to brainstorm new, efficient tools for the organization, use network to develop a successful business case for funding, and rapidly prototype tools to realize highest ROI with long-term support in mind- Contribute code and architectural enhancements to a base platform for delivering prototypes quickly within the organization (server side security, workflow, database communication; client side architecture and framework)

- Lead implementation of Configurable Logic Integrity Project (CLIP) process across all programs, from initial engineering baseline through production- Interface with and assist IT to ensure product support and availability- Develop object-oriented automation to manage 100+ Synergy/CM databases, release configurable logic devices and documentation- Developed Build Server to automatically execute configurable logic builds; developed Nightly Build Server to execute simulations and collect health metrics about all CL databases

- Responsibilities: Develop Configurable Logic Configuration Management automation and process to support 150 databases, 30-40 active programs; engage stakeholders to ensure automation and process capabilities meet needs and requirements- Reduced build and release of configurable logic component cycle time by 200% (from hours or days, to minutes/hours) by implementing a forking build server- Share best practices with other organizations to increase knowledge of product lifecycle and improve products

Created web presence and enhanced client experience by implementing e-commerce functionality. Created an interface that communicates with UPS, FedEx, and credit card processing servers. Ensured data integrity using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption knowledge learned on the job.
