Once a seedling in the Minne-apple of Minnesota, I’ve now taken flight to the Big Apple in the pursuit of chasing some dreams, eating good food, and being alive in the most exciting way I know how. I’m a creative soul who loves to write, collaborate, and build community.Springtime is fresh, warm, and colorful; what a hoot that I, April, am too.I spent my time in college studying Communications, Gender Studies, and Political Science at Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN. As far as extracurriculars are concerned, I was a member of the volleyball team all four years, named captain my senior year, and I worked as a tour guide and student supervisor in the Office of Admissions. After graduating, I was immediately hired on in the office as an intern, where I was able to continue learning the trade and honing my skills. I spent a lot of time assisting the different teams within our office and learning all the parts of the machine (think: events, operations, transfer and first-year, and orientation). In December of 2018 I was hired on full-time as a Graduate Admission Counselor where I remained until February of 2021. Upon my leave, I went on a road trip and planned a move to NYC. I spent the summer of 2021 serving at a restaurant and honing the speediness of my customer service skills. I have a lot of experience managing and office and navigating different CRMS, and I feel especially connected to work when there is a community on the line, be it guests who need to feel welcome in a new space, or colleagues and higher administration that need support in everyday tasks. I hold a Diversity and Inclusion certificate from Augsburg University and participated in an Undoing White Body Supremacy cohort from September 2019 to April 2020, where a small group of faculty, staff, and administration worked together to build community and practice ways of being less harmful given the space and privilege we hold as white people. I am customer focused, I do everything I can to make others feel welcome, confident, and knowledgeable.
