This role involved the provision of legal assistance and advice to several Coroners to progress investigations of reportable deaths and fires and ensure statutory obligations were met. I was responsible for management of a significant caseload in collaboration with the Registry team and was the primary contact for legal stakeholders in those investigations.I would prepare memoranda of advice to Coroners which provided a sound basis for decision-making about complex legal issues, statutory interpretation and the necessity and desirability of holding an inquest or other hearing and making injury/death prevention policy comments or recommendations when finalising an investigation (among other matters). I was also responsible for drafting requests for additional information (including requests compelling production of materials) and other Court documents such as Findings, Decisions, Determinations and Orders.I am most proud of the several complex chambers findings with prevention-focused recommendations I drafted while at the Court, which were adopted by the Coroner.

This role involved end-to-end case management of a significant file load of death investigations in collaboration with the Coroner, Coroner's Solicitor and other court staff. I was the primary contact point for police and civilian stakeholders in the coronial process and was frequently required to provide sensitive and considered responses to families and the public in complex and distressing circumstances. This role also include the listing of court hearings, liaising with witnesses, drafting of orders and bench clerking for the Coroner.I also regularly participated in the development and implementation of Court programs and assisting in the training of employees.I was the Court representative for the inaugural joint VIFM/CCOV Wellbeing Working Group.

This role involved the provision of administrative support for all aspects of the Law Faculty’s Clinical Legal Education programs, including assisting in the conduct of mid-placement reviews for externship clinics and conducting OH&S assessments of externship locations.

This role involved acting as the first point of contact for all clients of the service and managing the appointments across all services, as well as building and maintaining strong relationships with other community legal centres in order to provide appropriate referrals in the event of a conflict or lack of capacity. I was required to maintain statistical data in CLSIS for funding purposes and was responsible for the recording and banking of trust monies.I also acted as the administrative supervisor for law students undergoing professional practice placements or volunteering at the clinic and trained students and new staff in the service's policies and procedures. I placed a strong emphasis on team-building and organised and conducted the first MDC Trivia Afternoon to facilitate cohesiveness in the Monday Multidisciplinary Clinic (incorporating volunteers and supervisors from the Law, Business & Economics and Social Work faculties).

This role involved acting as first point of contact for all clients and managing the diary for the Principal Migration Agent. Additionally, I assisted in the preparation of a variety of complex Australian visa applications including business and skilled visas, undertook legal research and drafted written arguments for Tribunal hearings and applications for Ministerial Intervention.
