About April L. Brown, Phd

I am cofounder and COO of the Marshallese Educational Initiative, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization founded in 2013 and based in Springdale, Arkansas, and a professor of history at NWACC in Bentonville. I served as the Executive Director at MEI through 2016 and as Board President to 2022, when I stepped down to serve as COO. Our work at MEI focuses on promoting Marshallese history and culture, increasing educational attainment and retention levels, and raising awareness of the impact of climate change and nuclear testing, and much more. We work with Marshallese and non-Marshallese communities and facilitate intercultural dialogue to enact positive social change.
