In collaboration with other members of the Learning Support Services and Administrative Services team, school level administrators, and classroom teachers, the Behavior Intervention Specialist provides a positive behavior management model to improve the quality of learning for students in a tiered framework of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). It involved program planning and development, professional development, and ensuring that a continuum of services for students are provided.Essential Duties & Responsibilities● Establishes collaborative working relationships with the school's administration and Learning Support Services Team.● Provides training, both initial and ongoing, to staff on the implementation of the district behavior model.● Coaches classroom teachers and instructional assistants on the implementation of the behavior model and general classroom management.● Conducts classroom walk­-through observations and debriefing sessions with teachers.● Guides the teacher learning process toward working with student behavior and classroom management. Promote a healthy class environment and effective planning, organization and implementation of strategies for optimum behavior management.● Creates and maintains a system of communicating positives to the school community, students and staff to celebrate success in both meeting achievements and expectations and promoting a positive and nurturing environment.● Trains students and teachers to be well-­versed in the Code of Conduct.● Sets up and conducts restorative re­e-ntry meetings with students who have been suspended, and as appropriate, develops intervention plans involving instruction of expected behavior.● Analyzes behavioral data and uses it to plan student interventions.
