I want to create a restorative, rehabilitative, and transformative justice system. My desire to improve the experiences of those, whose lives intersect with the justice system, whether in court interactions or incarceration, fuels my passion for my chosen focus, all in support of a restorative justice system at multiple levels: the individual, our communities, and the environment. Through my work, I advocate for rehabilitative solutions that serve as the foundation for missions, operations, and building solutions. I listen closely and synthesize user input to plan and design facilities that support the philosophical mission and operations unique to each project I direct. I seek creative, cohesive, solutions that respond to operational goals and philosophies, embody evidence-based research, and employ best practices. I love working with owners and users to bring their vision to life. I want to plan and design operations and buildings that elevate the human experience, support wellness, builds equity, and transforms our communities. I savor chance encounters with individuals who serve as living proof that the time and effort we invest in advocating for a restorative and a rehabilitative justice system does pay dividends. I believe in:- beautiful civic and justice buildings that contribute positively to the environment in which they reside, - welcoming buildings full of daylight that inspire change and uplift the human spirit,- efficient operations, - customer service oriented settings,- an evidence-based approach to operations and design of built environments,- new operational concepts,- alternatives to incarceration; and,- treatment solutions to address the core issues (mental health, substance abuse, etc.).Since 1993, I have devoted my career exclusively to the planning and design of civic and justice facilities: courthouses, adult and juvenile detention and treatments facilities, government centers. I frequently speak at conferences, write articles, and serve as a Technical Resource Provider for National Institute of Corrections (NIC).
