As the Executive Director, Araceli provides vision and leadership to the Office of Student Success Initiatives(SSI), which encompasses the areas of First Year Programs, RESP, RISE, First Generation/Low-Income student support, and general holistic advising. -Advise undergraduate student-athletes across all disciplines and academic interests including but not limited to students expressing interest in health professions, law school, graduate school, undecided students, transfer students, students seeking independent area majors, overloads, and readmissions. -Assist with preparation for and provision of training sessions, information sessions, comprehensive resources, programmed events, and initiatives for staff of Academic Advising for Athletics, administrators, coaches, faculty advisors, collaborative offices, student assistants, and tutors throughout the year. -Oversee academic progress of student athletes by monitoring continuing eligibility and degree progression.-Compile and maintain accurate detailed records and reports for NCAA and University purposes. -Assist with compilation and reporting of information regarding student-athlete academic performance throughout the academic year. -Consult with prospective students on an individual basis, discuss their academic credentials and provide admission information and assistance.-Facilitate and support student-athlete academic assistance by referring student-athletes to the student-athlete tutorial program as well as available on-campus resources including instructors, centers, teaching assistants, Academic Fellows and Mentors Societies. -Recruit, train, and supervise tutorial staff of 80. -Assist staff of Academic Advising for Athletics with development, maintenance, and implementation of efficient and effective NCAA and University policies and procedures. -Support collaborative efforts and programming with other offices in the Division of the Dean of Undergraduates. -Conduct research and assessment, compile data and help prepare numerous written or verbal reports including eligibility, academic standing, admissions, academic progress, graduation rates, recruiting, and other reports related to compliance as well as strategic short and long term planning.

-Advise current and prospective students regarding academic programs and curriculums. -Evaluate and process degree plans, graduation applications, grade change forms, and general petitions. -Provide and coordinate academic advisement services for student athletes.-Maintain student-athlete records updated throughout their academic career.-Analyze and process requests for readmission from academic suspension.-Advise current and re-admitted students on financial aid reinstatements procedure.-Provides retention services for students on probation.-Organize and facilitate bi-weekly student success eminars. -Coordinate fall and spring new student orientation sessions and evaluate program’s effectiveness.-Assist in the implementation of college-wide marketing, recruiting, and retention efforts through evaluation and participation.-Facilitate recruitment presentations at special high school or community events.-Coordinate all student related activities and functions.-Manage a student activities budget of $65,500.-Plan, coordinate, prepare and disseminate publications related to student clubs, activities, and affairs to students, staff and the community as the advisor for the Student Government Association.-Maintain accurate records of all Student Activities events and Student Government Association activities (including event proposals, budgets, contacts, contracts, media/publicity, and evaluations).-Maintain accurate records of all volunteer programs that Galveston College student organizations sponsor, co-sponsors, and/or participates in on behalf of the College.-Maintain an up to date calendar of activities and events that is made readily available to all Galveston College students.
