For my Master's thesis at Chalmers University of Technology, I conducted an in-depth numerical investigation of heat transfer in the Outlet Guide Vanes (OGV) of a low-pressure turbine. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), I validated aero-thermal heat transfer predictions against experimental data from Chalmers' LPT-OGV test rig. The study focused on comparing heat transfer coefficients under both on-design and off-design conditions, including transient analyses for wake shedding effects. Findings highlighted the transition flow over the suction side of OGVs, with CFD simulations generally underpredicting experimental heat transfer coefficients. This research contributes to enhancing the accuracy of CFD models for better thermal management in aero-engine components.
