As a teacher under the Discipline Based Art Education curriculum, my profession will be that of an art historian, a critic, and an artist while also striving to grow as an educator. My goal is for students to further develop an appreciation for the visual arts while growing in self-confidence and creativity through personal expression. To attain this goal, I must prepare highly structured lessons with an appropriate level of challenge. Personal instruction and demonstrations will be focused and constructive. Additionally, my students must be prepared for studying and producing art at the collegiate level. My classroom will be a positive, organized environment with few distractions. I will proactively manage behaviors by encouraging and respecting my students while aiming to prevent opportunities for misconduct. As their educator, I will exhibit complete professionalism. I must stay consistent in all actions and show my students that I truly care for their well-being. Ultimately, I hope to convey my excitement and love for this subject, so that I may inspire my students to find a lifelong interest in learning about, creating, and appreciating art.
