Alistair is a member of Brodies' award-winning pensions team, who provide high quality cost-effective UK-wide legal services to pension scheme providers, employers, trustees and managers including:-• updating, changing and managing scheme documentation;• proportionate and historically-informed compliance advice (e.g. sex equalisation, Virgin Media queries);• quick questions or detailed advice on specific points such as GDPR, GMP Equalisation, contracts; • scheme mergers, de-mergers and closures;• benefit changes, de-risking and windup advice;• advice on actual or possible disputes including Pensions Ombudsman matters;• formal opinions for banking and other purposes;• Pensions Regulator, clearance, surpluses, employer debt and PPF matters;• advice on public sector and publicly-owned schemes as well as those in the private sector.Alistair has a keen interest in the design and operation of contract and trust-based pension products from the provider's and administrator's point of view. He regularly advises on the operation of SIPPs, personal pensions, master trusts and older types of arrangements.

Key areas of our work in pensions are:-• pursuing improvements to the law and the Scottish and UK legal systems;• responding effectively to Scottish, UK and international law reform and public policy proposals; and• engaging with government, its agencies and stakeholders as well as the profession,all in support of the Law Society of Scotland's overarching aims. We are a sub-committee of the Society's Public Policy Committee which focuses on the Society's objectives to pursue a fairer and more just society and maintain an international centre of excellence in legal thought leadership,
