The Water-Resources Mission Area (WMA) of the USGS provides reliable, impartial, timely information needed to understand the Nation’s water resources. The WMA is widely recognized as a source of unbiased hydrologic data and scientific information. This reputation is built on a foundation of high-quality data and science, maintained through superior quality-assurance and peer-review processes.Under the direction of the Chief Projects Officer, I am responsible for managing activities in the Project Management Office to provide 1.) project support and management, through defining tools, templates, and processes that will improve project success, and by providing coaching and creating a community of practice for WMA PM practitioners, 2.) program support and management, by developing processes that allow for effective onboarding of new programs that cross-cut the organization, 3.) governance support and facilitation by aiding senior management councils in reviewing portfolios to ensure project selection and growth are in areas meeting Water Strategic Objectives, and 4) consultation and management services for high-stakes projects or programs.

The Office of Water Information (OWI), Center for Integrated Data Analytics (CIDA) cost center, deploys high-end information technology products to enhance data storage and access methods against natural resource datasets in support of the USGS mission. Worked for the largest project in Maui Nui operating to fulfill the Department of Land Natural Resource’s constitutionally mandated responsibility to protect & manage seabirds, & their habitats, across federal, state, & private land. Proposed, planned, & reported on conservation programs in collaboration with the Project Manager & partners. Researched & implemented data management methods & strategies. Utilized GIS (Geographic Information Systems) to conduct analyses and produce visual representation of project strategies & results. Shaped the allocation of project resources. Managed & trained staff, interns, & volunteers. Negotiated with & contracted vendors. Planned public events & field trips to cultivate public interest. First Wind Energy created the first Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) used for a wind farm of its scale in the United States. The plan guides conservation efforts of four protected Hawaiian species. Performed surveys to monitor site for target species. Utilized GPS devices for navigation & data collection. Maintained thorough data collection files. Provided senior staff concise data for reports & presentations. Serviced automated acoustic monitoring (AAM) stations.
