I am a degreed meteorologist pursuing a PhD in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) at Harvard University. My research concentrates on the applications of both chemistry and dynamics on climate trends in the stratosphere.More specifically, my work focuses on evaluating the chemical characteristics of long-lived molecules, or tracers, and using them as metrics to understand shifts in the stratospheric circulation via satellite observations. I also look at stratospheric age of air (AoA). An idealized tracer, age of air can be calculated from satellite observations of long-lived tracers, to understand the dynamics of the stratospheric circulation.Coupling both tracers and their scaled, compact relationships with one another (tracer interrelationships) and age of air, I seek to calculate a long term product via satellite data to better understand trends of the circulation and their responses to climate.Additionally, I am interested in constraining sinks of long-lived tracers, specifically SF6 to improve SF6-based AoA calculations. While satellites are important, in-situ observations are pivotal for addressing these questions and improving applications of relating AoA and tracer interrelationships to trends in the stratospheric circulation.As a meteorologist, I’m also interested in meteorological phenomena that prompt troposphere-stratosphere exchange (re: polar vortices, thunderstorms, wildfires, for example).I’m also involved in advocacy work, particularly the intersection of Disability and Mental Health in BIPOC communities. I am passionate about mental health in academia as well. Beyond my work, I like to focus on family, health and fitness, running, cooking, hiking, reading and exploring coffee shops.
