Over the course of my graduate student career I have worked to develop optically levitated acceleration sensor, and analyze the data they produce to do fundamental physics. Our technique uses the radiation pressure at the focus of a laser beam to suspend a 5um diameter glass sphere. We have applied this technique to search for new particles and dark energy.

I have TAed classical mechanics for undergraduates, where I helped to develop course content, and provided instruction. I have also TAed the lab class for physics majors where we focused on the ability of the students to analyze data and communicate their results. Additionally, I have TAed the graduate level analog electronics class where we covered.

I began my undergraduate research career working in geochemistry. I used an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer to analyze trace metal isotope ratios interesting for studying climate change in the pacific ocean. I eventually discovered my passion for physics and moved to working on a project to build a detector to screen the parts of a dark matter.
