School-based Outpatient Therapist provides diagnostic assessments, therapy, and support by helping clients develop skills and strategies to cope with and change their behavior.

Assisted in planning and/or conducting art therapy sessions with children and young adults to improve clients' physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being while also fostering creative expression during sessions that meet client’s goals and objectives within their treatment plan.

To provide mental health services to children and adolescents in the home, school and community settings. The Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) provide one-on-one support to emotionally disturbed children or adolescents. The main goals of the TSS are to follow the treatment plan, help the child/adolescent eliminate inappropriate behavior(s), provide emotional support to the child/adolescent and assist those responsible for the child/adolescent in fostering greater independence and socially responsible behavior. In addition, TSS provide support for integration and participation in group activities. He or she will use rewards and consequences to achieve goals and will record data and chart progress of the child/adolescent. All of this is done under the supervision of one or more master’s level therapists.

• Run and analyze research data through a statistical program (SPSS)• Research articles and compile into annotated bibliographies based on several topics that relate to drug and alcohol abuse for youth and adults in Sub-Saharan Africa, specifically Zambia; as well as the frequency of use, type of drugs, motivation for change, and the effects and types of treatment given• Attend a 12 Step Literacy-Free Expressive Arts Therapy Training in Maryland and receive a certification of completion (therapy used as part of treatment of drug and alcohol abuse in Zambian research)• Review all data and articles with my supervisor weekly, and continue to communicate with my research team on the project
