Arif Shaikh is the Advisor in the Governor's office at CBUAE for Risk, Compliance and other Macro Issues Prior to this current stint Arif was the Group Chief Risk Officer at FAB and has then moved into the current role at CBUAE. He was part of the initial leadership team at FGB and then FAB which has led the transformation of FAB to its leading position in the UAE today. Arif led the Group Risk and Compliance, Group Legal, the Strategic Business Review and the overall Corporate Governance functions for the bank. He established the Enterprise Risk Management function at FGB and has developed FAB’s current risk framework. Arif was a member of all the key bank committees and on the Board of Dubai First, Aseel Islamic Finance, First Gulf Libyan Bank and FGB real estate subsidiaries. Arif holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and is also a member of the Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Indian Institute of Bankers.Prior to joining FGB, Arif worked with Standard Chartered Bank, ANZ Grindlays Bank, HSBC, KPMG & PWC covering a variety of positions including Risk, Audit, Finance, Trade, Corporate Banking, Branch Management, Banking Consultancy, etc. Arif has had working stints in India, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Dubai apart from his current base in Abu Dhabi.
