I began my professional career as a Research Chemist at the Naval Weapons Center, China Lake, CA where I was awarded my first patent on work with solid propellants. Moved to Alcoa Conductor Products Company in Texas where I was introduced to wire and cable manufacturing and continued in that specialty as a scientist and engineer until 2005. Since my retirement, I have focused on waterjetting technology to capture pure copper from cable, a new process that replaces the current chopping method that has been in use for over six decades. I have been awarded three patents in the waterjetting for copper recovery process, the most recent in 2016. Two additional patents have been applied for and are pending. My goal is to help people understand the world around them, the changes that are occurring and assist them to implement practices that will cope with those changes. In my association with Metropolitan Community College where I tutor chemistry, I emphasize our planet, solar system, galaxy and universe have only two components - matter and energy. We must make the best use of those resources. With that in mind, I started KGS Solar and Lighting with specialists in solar energy and energy efficient lighting to offer a simple, local method of generating and using our energy resources. To demonstrate my commitment to renewable energy, I have two hybrid electric vehicles and installed a 3 kV photovoltaic solar system at my residence. Let us all live life wisely.
