My name is Arrick Wilson, proud native of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Currently, I'm a junior at Virginia Commonwealth University, pursuing a degree in mass communications with a focused study in Media Production.Driven by my passion for storytelling, particularly within the Black community, I aspire to become a renowned filmmaker. To date, I've independently crafted and released three compelling short films, handling every aspect of production from inception to editing. My dedication has been recognized through acceptances to two film festivals and securing first place in a competition at VCU. Eager to further explore my craft, I've recently launched my own production company.In addition to my filmmaking endeavors, my journey in media extends to journalism. I've served as the Photography Editor for The Commonwealth Times, VCU's independent student newspaper, leveraging my skills to visually narrate impactful stories. Before this role, I honed my editorial prowess as the Sports Editor, a position I held for nearly two years, beginning in my freshman year.Beyond the confines of traditional media, I am a catalyst for community-driven initiatives. I founded the Black Creative Magazine, a platform amplifying the voices and experiences of Black creatives. Recognizing a gap in representation, I embarked on this venture to celebrate and showcase the richness of Black creativity.I am a versatile creative who can adapt and create.
