I worked generally in the area of systems security, more specifically, I worked on embedded systems security. My research was at the intersection of operating systems, program analysis, and compilers. On the defensive side, I worked on protecting applications in the presence of vulnerabilities, focusing on memory corruption and type violations, using techniques such as software compartmentalization. On the offensive side, I worked on program analysis to find vulnerabilities in programs, using techniques such as white-box fuzzing and symbolic execution.

Responsibilities included working on Mentor Embedded Hypervisor (MEHV), Mentor Embedded Linux (MEL) and Nucleus RTOS Kernel. Major work included:• Working on ARM Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), and integration of new Global Platform (GP) API for MEHV, added RAM file system (RAMFS) support for MEHV• Working on development of core components of Mentor Embedded Hypervisor (MEHV)• Enabling Symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) for MEHV micro kernel for TI DRA7xx SOCs and OMAP5EVM• Working on Architecture support for ARMv7 Virtualization Extensions• Designing and development of Virt-IO over Memory Mapped-IO (MMIO). Over MMIO Transport designed and implemented sharing of Console (Virt-IO Console), Ethernet (Virt-IO Net) and Block IO (Virt-IO Block) drivers for MEHV. • Paravirtualization for Various Guest Operating Systems, such as Nucleus RTOS, Mentor Embedded Linux and Bare metal execution environment for MEHV• Enabling Symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) Guest Operating Systems on MEHV

At RF Lab, KICS under supervision of Dr. Naseer -ud-Din Najafi experimented with renewable energy systems and high frequency design of PCB, prepared POC for various systems mostly inclined to concentrated solar energy such as heliostats, parabolic troughs and fresnels. This included platform development from scratch. Developed software for these platform, based on SPA (Julian time). Assembled, tested and debugged Motor driver card and Motherboards for Heliostats installed at CERAD. Worked with up 2 to 4 layer PCB design and assembling with industrial tools such as Altium. Other than that some side projects indcluded Testing and Debugging of Molten Salt (Mg-Sb) battery with Dr. Amjad Chaudhary, Design and installation of an electric furnace at Automotive Center, UET, Lahore, was the key person in TOT.

Built Linux from source for Raspberry Pi and deployed on it. Command line programming of UNIX (used Raspbian), used interfaces such as procfs and sysfs to alter hardware configuration initially, however for programmatic low-level peripheral access used an open source library 'wiringPi', made a demo application for education purposes.
