My name is Arthur and I own and manage Indoor-Restore Environmental Services, a real estate inspection, testing and damage recovery services company. I currently live and work from San Francisco, but the company is headquartered and was founded in Folsom, a town near Sacramento, California.I have always had two interests in life: science and real estate. These seem to be two very separate topics, but they have coincided for me in both my business and personal life. As a child and through college, I loved biology; particularly microbiology (the close-up study of elements of life is very interesting). My enjoyment of real estate came from father, who was an investor and owner of a brokerage.In the mid-80s, I started my home inspection company.During my experiences with designing, building and buying and selling real estate, I came across several situations where tenants and owners were becoming ill after being at a property. Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) wasn’t known at the time so people didn't realize that contaminants such as mold could make them sick. One situation in particular sparked my concern when a child got sick in an apartment I had purchased. I contacted the university and hired a professor to come out and take samples at the property. He looked at them and found elevated levels of a mold that releases harmful mycotoxins. I found a few papers on the subject and began a discussion about the topic with the professor.The situation seemed more serious than people realized and not many were involved in the business so I expanded my home inspection business to test for mold.In 1993, I began a new company called Indoor-Restore Environmental Services. Since then, with the help of many hard-working, quality individuals, Indoor-Restore has become the #1 environmental inspection and testing company in the State of California.To this day, I still work with the day-to-day.
